DQXI, BG3 and E33 showed that turn based games still sell.
It's just that you need competent writing (story, characters, dialogue, worldbuilding, exposition) great music/atmosphere and passable gameplay.

Western turn based games (RPGs in general) were fucking dead
Most Japanese RPGs put themselves into a weird niche for some reason and never got out
