As much as I love the idea of Zartlet surviving, that's really stupid, to be honest. It means Alphys has a super-soldier serum on her hands, and the only downside was that recipient will die when he's about to die anyway. It should've worked as red flowers from Cave Story, to ensure it's literally the last resort when you have absolutely no alternatives, basically a suicide vest.
