Everything that exists has a reason for its existence, humans are hardwired to discover the reason behind everything. If life had no meaning and the universe came into being for no reason then we would not have the innate desire to search for meaning in everything.
God is the reason we search, God is the reason we hunger for lasting satisfaction.
>"But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."- Deuteronomy 4:29

>It’s hard to believe an all-controlling-
Wrong idea right off the bat, God is sovereign but He is not a puppet master making things happen. The universe is governed by laws that dictate how things behave, these laws were once perfect and didn't allow for anything negative to happen but mankind, the pinnacle of God's creation, turned from God and in doing so introduced imperfection into God's perfect creation and now the world, that God created, brings forth suffering, death and imperfection because it has been spoiled by mankind's sin.
Sin is turning away from God, by turning away from the perfect creator we embrace imperfection and all of the terrible possibilities that come with imperfection.

>"Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."- 1 John 2:23
>"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."- John 14:6-11
>"But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom."- Hebrews 1:8
