It honestly might be the most prolonged period of complete crackhead-tier mismanagement any major media company has ever had. They had a license to print money, thought "but what if we could make even MORE money" and unironically ran the company into the ground trying to improve on good.
The conversation always descends into memes but the facts are that the Snyder films were profitable and everything they did after him was one catasrophe after another. And I think Snyder probably wasn't the right guy to be in charge of the entire thing and maybe needed a tard wrangler to talk him down from some of his dumber ideas but, fuck, the people who stepped in after him were like saboteurs. They were upset that BVS "only" made $900 mil and by the end they were releasing turds that couldn't even gross $100 mil domestically.
So the DCEU was getting outgrossed by the MCU. So fucking what. DC has been the comic book silver medalist since like 1965 or whatever. It still had fans, it still sold, it still made money. Blowing it all up because it's first place or nothing was insane. This is like Adidas getting butthurt that Nike outsold them one year, firing everyone, discontinuing their most popular shoes and letting the unpaid interns design some garish replacements that sold 1/10 the volume of the originals. It was corporate suicide

You know what's really insane about this scene is that it's a Whedon addition. Meaning it wasn't even supposed to be in the movie. Despite knowing they would have to CGI over Cavill's face in every new scene he wrote multiple new scenes including an opening that was nothing *but* a potato-quality portrait close-up of Cavill's face. The face he knew they'd have to CGI over. And then when he saw it looked like this he kept it in the movie anyway despite it not being plot essential.
No one will ever be able to convince me he gave the slightest fuck about this movie. If anything, at some points it feels like deliberate sabotage. And to this day people blame Snyder whenhe had no control over any of this and the wheels only came off after they replaced him. What in the FUCK were they thinking?

There is nothing so implausible that I would not believe Hamada-era Warner Brothers incapable of it. That was maybe the most blatant era of overt incompetence ever seen at a major studio.
