Gaster makes me nervous. We play the game only as long as he lets us and he just seems to want us to make progress one way or the other. He just wants "his" DELTARUNE.
People seem really soft on him lately because he compliments you in the Knight fight, but that doesn't mean he's not still just using you as a tool toward his own ends. He's just impressed by you. He asks you to acknowledge the possibility of pain and seizure.
I think there's a 50/50 shot he "jumps into" the narrative after a climactic part to seize a literal "DELTA RUNE" like how Ganon steals the triforce in some games.
Also, the tree man tells us DELTARUNE is waiting, but Gaster is waiting for DELTARUNE. I have no idea what to make of that, if it's even anything.
