I really loved the gameplay outside of some wonky balancing. Thought it was weird that a random palette-swap troll not far off the beaten path would mulch my entire team in one swing of a ten-hit combo while I could beat a major story boss in two rounds.
I really loved the story outside of the ending, which I think undermines a lot of the emotional investment of what came before (mainly regarding the future of Lumiere and the plight of those on the Expeditions) for the sake of a divisive final choice regarding Verso and the Dessendres. Made all the worse by everyone screaming at me that the Verso ending is the objectively good choice when I genuinely hated that fucker by the end.

I loved the majority of the game but am still pretty bitter about the forced divisive nature of the ending they only introduce in the last ten minutes. Just felt like they went out of their way to make both choices shitty despite all of the obvious compromises the narrative set up.
It gets people talking, but I feel like the argument over the ending overshadows everything I actually liked about the story.

I just wish that the Maelle ending had some semblance of a hopeful outcome for Maelle herself. I hate that giving her any hope of not wasting away in the canvas has to automatically equate to killing everyone in the canvas.
