>>715087369 (OP)Sciel slept with him because she's pretty laissez-faire and just felt like fucking him in the moment, but her entire motivation as a character is her deep devotion to her dead husband and unborn child. Lune was also tsundere for him but, I also interpreted that as her just wanted to get fucked for once while she still had the chance, moreso than any deep romance with Verso. I don't think either of them were really in love with Verso, but they were constantly in danger of dying and he's a handsome Frenchman in arms' reach so he was a pretty good option at the time

The story is being delivered via an unreliable narrator.
>create a genuinely interesting and compelling setting and story
>use it as a bait and switch in favor of a second setting and story which are significantly less interesting and compelling than the first one
>>715101297Xenoblade Chronicles did the same thing and everyone praised that shit
>>715101297The Dessendre family fuckery is way more entertaining than PAINTRESS BAD
>>715101548Lumiere is more than "paintress bad", anon. I was genuinely interested in hearing the details of how they're managing to keep the city alive, the societal effects of them being slowly genocided, the mishmash of their old technology with whatever scraps of magic they can get back from the continent, the tales of the previous expeditions, and the mood whiplash of what a colossal fuckup the start of the current expedition was.
They tease you with that setting, they throw in a few crumbs, and it gets almost immediately abandoned in favor of vague cryptic family drama that you have no reference point to even begin to understand until like 20 hours later.
The Dessendre fuckery isn't bad, but to me, it was less interesting than Lumiere. And the pacing of how it gets introduced was bad.
>>715101453Xenoblade Chronicles didn't do that, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 did and plenty of people didn't like it. It certainly wasn't praised for the late game reveals.
Clair Obscur is literally just a french take on Xenoblade 3, even down to how the escapism world functions and even the uniforms the characters wear, but the reveals are done better in E33 and the ending(s) isn't as muddled.

You can clearly see the difference in act 1 and 3 and that 1 clearly had a higher budget or just had better more crafted writing
The dessendre family was really cool but they should have went into more depth about it. Its not explicitly stated in the game but the people of Lumiere are pretty much real human beings except in a canvas. So going Verso ending you pretty much commit omnicide, they could have went deeper on that end but the writing falls off by that point

>>715103621They are in on it.
They know about the paintress, they know about real Renoir, they know he wants to gommage everything, they know Verso wants to take her down, and they help him do so, for nearly a century.
Contrary to Lune they express zero butthurt in act III, quite the contrary. Far from confrontation, Monoco simply ask how he will convince the girls to get back on track. As for Esquie you max his relationship immediately in act III. In the final moments they agree with Verso.
By that point they've also been alive for centuries and are tired of it. Besides as the other anon said they are made from the desires of real verso, who wants to stop painting.

>>715106206They're already gone whatever you do, the best Alicia can is do replace them with weird broken puppets while she rots away for the rest of her life, which is an even worse outcome or at least certainly no better.
Sucks that neither of the two people who make it to the final room have any desire to actually carry out the mission objective but them's the breaks. Maelle might have done something constructive but Alicia is no longer Maelle.
verso gets away with so much life-ruining bullshit just because he's handsome
>>715108557Because he still likes noco despite the fact it's copies and that he's seen many of them. He wants to see a noco one last time before the erasure.
During the last relationship rank with Maelle, Verso explain how different he thinks of death inflicted within the painted world and ending the painting itself. Monoco probably thinks the same.
>>715108313I always see her in Sciel
act 1 was the only good act desu
>>715109040Oh yeah, no doubt about it Verso's ending is better. My idea was that act 3 had more potential and could have been better written in a few ways honestly. >>715109261Esquie, Monoco and painted Alicia are on Verso's side. They also avoid disclosing any sensitive information. Ehhh so. Are we gonna talk about how useless of a power is to just make worlds in paintings? Like what can you even do with it? Its not like you can at least spend too much time in them or you die. So the power is basically create worlds and life and then just kill them for lulz

>>715107514There are many candidates above him on that list, starting with Morgana from Persona 5.

>>715113169No she didn't - it was Verso and Clea's painting remember, so they would have made the original people. But by the time Aline entered, Verso's soul was sustaining the world unconsciously and had been for hundreds of years in canvas time.
>>715112817I just wish that the Maelle ending had some semblance of a hopeful outcome for Maelle herself. I hate that giving her any hope of not wasting away in the canvas has to automatically equate to killing everyone in the canvas.

The game presents it as Verso wanting to erase Lumiere and the canvas and Maelle as wanting to preserve them. You want to try to headcanon it so that there is no actual choice here. Do you not realize how silly this is?
>>715113707>Yeah, from Verso and Clea, a very long time before Aline entered.Proofs?

Again, anon, we can keep arguing specifics, but at the end of each of these posts, I'll just keep reminding you that I'm actually taking the game at face value that there is a dilemma in the game as to which choice you pick, and you, on the other hand, are trying to argue that there is no dilemma, and that one of the choices is a fake choice. Just remember that.

>>715113714What the game tells us is that you need to understand the truth of who someone is to bring them back even with their chroma. You can headcanon whatever else you want.

>>715114735If I'm a Lumerian, that is still much preferable to me.
>Y-y-you will die eventuallyYeah, no shit. I'm not immortal.
>>715114697Speaking of Maelle in her ending, she's clearly unhappy there, too. As if you needed any more indications that it's clearly supposed to be the bad ending.
>>715114697>this entire postYes, you fucking mongoloid
>>715114859I don't care about Maelle lol
You can convince me that Maelle and Verso are both miserable and I won't care. Maelle's ending is the correct one because it preserves the Lumiere lives.
>>715114521They are already dead, at least all the inhabitants of Lumiere (the others are creations of Verso that go along with his ending).
At most you can say that with the destruction of the painting they can't be brought back, but there is a big difference between killing someone and not bringing them back.
Besides Maelle's ability to bring back people or even make new one is limited because of
>>715114073
>>715114976>Besides Maelle's ability to bring back people or even make new one is limitedIf she brought back Pierre, how can she not keep bringing people back through connections between each person? It's not like she was great acquaintances with Pierre.
And again, while you come up with some bullshit excuse to explain this way, just remember once again that you are trying to hand-wave the dilemma the game presents you away.
>>715113714When they go to form the expedition of puppets she explicitly states that old chroma is nowhere near as good and that's why they don't come out as actual people
She calls it stale
>>715112182They all die in maelle's ending too just later. At least with Verso's ending Maelle has the chance to remake these people in a new canvas. In Maelle's ending when the canvas gets burned after she dies all those people are just gone forever
>but doesn't the prospect of her remaking those people in a new canvas cheapen the dilemma presented?Kinda. They obviously wouldn't be the same people but they're not the same people anyways post gommage. It's all fucked. That's the whole point of the game though. Everything is fucked.
I wish my favorite jarpig had this battlesystem and graphical fidelity. fantastic fucking game.
>>715112094>minus the time slowingexactly, you get extra years to your life
kinda useful, no?
>>715115090I think that has to do with the fact that they didn't get gommaged and got stuck in those statue figures, but you know what? Let's assume you're correct.
Even if she can only bring back people that got gommaged as far back as Pierre, that's still the better option.
>>715115096>They all die in maelle's ending too just laterWe're all gonna die eventually.
>At least with Verso's ending Maelle has the chance to remake these people in a new canvasThat's creating new life. It's basically creating new copies of people. It's like when Aline created Painted Verso. That's a new lifeform.
>>715115078>If she brought back PierreShe doesn't "bring back" anyone at any point in time. She is not a capital G God. She is a lowercase g god. Those are replicas.
>B-BUT YOU KILLED ALL THOSE PEOPLE!!
oh yeah? watch this *paints TWO new canvases*
>>715096496>>Maelle makes him old but won't let him diehe'll die eventually because the painting can't sustain itself once maelle dies, @ least that's how i understand it. the workings of canvases aren't very well explained.
>>715115332Proven wrong by Sciel, fortunately. Maelle brought her back and she had her full memories that were outside of Maelle's purview.
If Alicia really did recreate everyone perfectly and doesn't fuck with anyone who isn't Verso, do you think they'd all be happy knowing that Maelle is effectively a god? Or that their world is a painting and will be destroyed at a point coinciding with whenever she dies or gets removed?
>>715115418Yes.
I'm happy knowing that I get to live for hopefully many decades even if I have to die eventually. Living now is better than not living now.
>>715115078>you are trying to hand-wave the dilemma the game presents you away.Any dilemma is not where you are pretending it is.
Just to be clear, are you denying that the people of Lumiere are dead in act III?
Perhaps had Renoir not yet gommed them you could make your case, but he did at the end of act II.
>>715115506And it wouldn't bother you that some emotional child now has the potential to do literally anything to you?
>>715115581Renoir gommed Lune and Sciel too and Maelle brought them back.
We see that Pierre is back in her ending's epilogue.
Chroma gets dispersed with the gommage and Maelle just has to gather it back.
>>715087753He was a good friend
>>715115843The image that destroyed Versotards
>>715115280Pierre wasn't gommaged, he died in an accident. It's why Sciel was so distraught, she had accepted only having so many years with him and then didn't even get that. Even so, after the gommage a person's chroma goes on to be recycled. The whole thing with Renoir and Aline is a battle for control of the chroma in the canvas.
>>715115928The apprentice kid was gommaged and he's back. Gustave's sister is there with him happily and she got gommaged (While Gustave himself wasn't gommaged)
>>715089836>For those who come after!>Verso comes>"Alright bro enjoy my sloppy seconds."
>>715115418Sciel and Lune seem pretty chill about it. The rest of Lumiere doesn't need to know the full story.
>>715092517>I don't think either of them were really in love with VersoNot to be semantic, sure they weren't in love, but it wasn't purely carnal either. Sciel has that final romance scene in which she acknowledges, "We did have something though didn't we?"
>>715115687Anon, let's cross that bridge when we get there, alright? If she starts creating hellish camps that are just decapitating us over and over again, we can curse our fate. Right now she saved us from getting erased and is the one maintaining our way of life.
>>715094336>i literally cannot answer anything because i dunno who is this sad fuckerBoth options are lies lmao
>>715103723>the very last time any of the supporting cast is even acknowledged to exist is the paintress literally saying "who the fuck are you even supposed to be?"Go to camp in act 3.
>>715106767>Monoco is literally introduced by him refusing to go along with Verso's bullshitAnd then Verso easily convinces him to, because his sole existence is as a playmate for Verso.
>>715101297>create a genuinely interesting and compelling setting and story>use it as a bait and switchNone of the stories got switched out. Every character drama manages to the end of the story. Even Sciel and Lune get their moments in the finale. The setting was the expedition, not the city of Lumiere. That would be like Battlestar Galactica getting bogged down in the eight colonies. The story is about Expedition 33, and this plotline follows all the way to the finales.
>>715108557>why does Monoco care about resurrecting Noco if he's cool with Verso erasing everything? Why does Verso care about pAlicia is he's going to erase everything? Do you really need this answered? He's not a psychopath, he's just committed to a goal.
>>715109261When he promised Sciel that he'll do everything in his power to bring back her husband, I fell for it. He's just so charming lmao.
>>715116001The apprentice kid is only back in a scene showing that Maelle has lost herself in the canvas, considering that Gustave is also back which she would have dobe earlier if she could it isn't a leap to say those are likely new versions that she painted rather than actually revived
>>715110272>Did they ever explain what the green rocks that cover all of lumiere come from? You get the ability to crack them in act 3. They're from the fracturing. They look like mixed paint.
>>715116926>which she would have dobe earlier if she couldNo, she explicitly needed Renoir's chroma to do it cause he was hogging it all. This is explained at the start of Act 3.
>>715112972>Verso walks on screen with a giant billboard framed behind him reading "DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN, HE WILL BETRAY THE PARTY">The game pauses and a popup window explains that Verso will betray the party>Knock at my door. Sandfall has sent a dev to my house to explain that Verso is lying about a lot of thigns and he'll betray the Expedition>Verso is the only Expeditioner who stays true to the cause and sees it through to the end>He accomplishes this by betraying everyone on an individual level>I fell for almost every lie he told even when I knew betterGood thing I'm not a woman lmoa
did Aline paint her dead son's penis
>>715115843>and a pianoa marvelous piano i should add. if i had to play this until the end of my days while also sleeping around with my 2 exotic mystery meat wives & smoking hot tight 16y.o sister, i would consider it a scam & spit on you, because nothing this good could possibly ever be true.
>>715087753Based
Fuck p*inted people
why did verso want to die?
>>715119092My mom is alive unlike that sad faggot
>>715118084Literally everyone for 67 years knew that he was a dickhead and told him so
Who is more handsome, Gustavo or Verso?
>>715119661>stem autismo>artsy smoothtalkerAs is well known girls flock to the robotics club while ignoring the musicians along the way. Gustave has 10/10 face but the moment they start talking and emoting Verso just has more rizz.
>>715107941>>715108678They can't bring the combat to a movie without making it look retarded. And there are too many bosses integral to the story to skip them.
Also, how do you incorporate the curator? You can't really upgrade weapons (or lumina) in movies.
>>715113302Verso didn't paint any humans. The original inhabitants of the canvas were gestrals, grandis, and whatever the fuck Esquie and Francois are. That's why there's a lost gestral city and there's a fuckhueg queue at the sacred river. Most of them were killed in the fracture.
>>715111617>what would you even do with a real going into games machine
No but seriously why is being alive in a world were you don't work and can fuck anybody you want at all times bad? Verso can literally just do want every he wants and he's still a complaining fag
>>715115418The Lumierians start their lives knowing the exact time they will die. Having Maelle remove that number and allow them to thrive for at least another century would be a godsend.
>>715106194I will if they're palestinian.
>>715109493Nah, too non-White.
