Is that how you call a bunch of levels nonsensically connected through water and crumbling ruins to somehow functioning automated platforms that still work in what is little more than the skeleton of a walkway?
Is that what you consider good level design? You take a flat circular arena and trim it and the player must lower two levers in a flat corridor to magically pop the 2/3rds of it back up

Dark Souls 3 returned to large dungeons with lots of interwoven shortcuts and vertical paths, which was a much needed change of level design after Dark Souls 2 and the endless stream of Demon Ruins tier corridors ala Shrine of Amana, Eleum Loyce, Aldia's Keep, Dragon Shrine, Crypt and Hunstman Corpse
It's a design philosophy that will also be in Legacy Dungeons

Nice meme image, but bosses dropping bonfires and bonfire being after it as summon checkpoint for the new zone is completely irrelevant, especially when the area after has 3 different elevator shortcuts and several ladders to drop
Dark Souls 2 shits out bonfires every actual 10 meters. Lost Bastille has 7 bonfires, ridicolous and not even close to any other game
