The way I write a telepath is: they are so aware of everything everyone they ever meet will ever think, say or do that they have a difficult time responding to it, and ultimately become detached. Ordinary people should find the character alien or weird because they don't respond to social cues properly. Not out of arrogance or impoliteness, but because that "need" no longer exists, so they'll often forget it's necessary.

Imagine playing a video game for the 30th time so you know what every character wants, will do, "exists for", how they will respond to any given stimuli you throw at them, etcetera. It's kind of like this. You have such a thru road into every element that makes up an individual that they stop feeling like people anymore. They are just elements of your environment. A collection of factors, not the sum of their parts. You don't have to resent these other people or develop a god complex over it, you will just have a hard time feeling like anyone else is truly alive.

If the telepath can actually manipulate thoughts it's even worse, since the temptation to adjust anything disagreeable or otherwise inconvenient will be enormous. Even our average person with a typical moral complex would be tempted to reconfigure those around them.
