I feel like the "original game" is also clearly modified by the controller though.
If playing the game is part of the prophecy that means we're also "supposed to" get the Shadow Mantle, use it to defeat The Knight and collect all the Shadow Crystals
We're collecting the Shadow Crystals on a whim to impress Seam, who is a schizo who clearly knows what's supposed to happen and has become a detached fatalist because of it but is excited by the prospect of us defeating the Shadow Crystal holders, especially The Knight. If all of that is supposed to happen like everything else and nothing will change, why would he care?
I feel like the "original game" is also clearly modified by the controller though.
