>Story is 90% yapping, there are zero stakes, constant fakeout deaths, and the power of friendship always saves the day
>Constantly pandering to fags and fujos by sidelining or killing off every attractive female character
>Gameplay is sluggish tab-targetting trash, revolving around repetitive rotations, and cheap DDR fight design where all difficulty has been offloaded to because the classes themselves have been dumbed down and homogenized beyond recognition
>Zero RPG elements, no builds, every Black Mage plays the exact same as eachother
>There is literally zero content if you aren't a hard-core raidfag or ERPer, and even as a raider you barely get content (12 savage fights per expansion and 1 to 2 Ultimates)

Why? This game is the literal personification of everything/v/ claims to hate and yet there I'd a dedicated defense force for this game here. Even other FFXIV communities like Reddit, the forums, etc agree the game is in a very bad state right now. Yet /v/ STILL loves it. Why? What is it about this game that has enraptured this board?
