He’s definitely been phoning it in these last few years. Murata is a pro. And by pro I mean professional quite literally. One thing people praise him for is not just technical skill but speed. He clearly has time saving methods and whatnot burned into his style. So while his work is all very professional and clean and for its level produced at a good rate, it does seem to lack that passionate human touch. So instead of “what’s the perfect expression for this scene” that One may draft over and over, murata will choose one of the expression types he’s mastered that’s “close enough” and just move on to the next page. It’s probably why he redraws so much, he has the process down.
It’s kind of ironic when you think about what OPM is about.
