It's a redditor's interpretation of a Nier title where the beloved character dies 1/3rd of the way - and 2/3rds in you get a big world shattering reveal that everything is a lie. The final sequence is a fight between the demiurge, and then FINAL final fight is between 2 characters and their conflicting motivations.

It literally follows Nier Automata beat by beat. They added a western style romance system that is so hilariously terrible and disgusting that even redditors said it was fucked up.

I'll give the devs credit because although it's mediocre, it has the elements that drive discussion

>final conflict drives autistic discussion like new vegas or Skyrim civil war where it's entirely subjective and people can argue their points forever and end up at the same conclusion.

They used a good formula, good marketing, and competently delivered a servicable game. I don't care for it but I see how it works.
