That's exactly what is going on. The reality is that, technically, Iran already has the nuke. Iran is just "WEEKS away from a nuclear weapon!" It's true but also, a misrepresentation of the situation. They make it sound like Iran is actively working toward building a weapon right now, when that isn't the case.
They have been "weeks away" from a nuke for years now because their civilian nuclear program has centrifuges capable of enriching material to weapons-grade.
So, if they strike them and don’t manage to destroy all of their deep underground facilities, they COULD make a bomb within a few weeks. And they’d be justified in doing so if they were attacked.
