I often wonder if she is trying to get published under very specific publishers, for the name and prestige, just like she wanted a degree from Oxford, but is failing at it. If she isn't trying some smaller, lesser-known publishers, for her first book, then that is a big mistake. She thinks too highly of her work, I would guess. And herself. While I have seen some people get published by well known publishers, their books ended up going out of print after the first run because they were often problematic, and they were not fiction. But in the long run, it is the content, and, so far, we have not seen her writing anything worthwhile. She copycats other authors, she is childish and inexperienced in life and simply not a good writer. I just don't think writing is her forte. You can journal and write something every day, but unless you have a unique natural talent for it, you aren't going to see yourself on the shelves. Even if she did, would she stick it out and continue to write? What would she write about? Would she be able to keep up with demanding deadlines set by publishers? Would she be able to give talks and go to signings without her mommy next to her? Some of the best authors have had very long periods of writer's block. If she has not been able to produce something by now, with all her various gap years and free time, the only thing I can conclude is that she is a terrible writer.
