I was soft bricked for decades, the last 2 weeks I finished it, both characters.
Now I play RE2OG and it's great, easier too because you learn the tricks with 1.

Don't reload because of health or ammo immediately. The game gives you stuff in the next corner.
The bosses are not very difficult, the map and planning the routes is more difficult.
