I completely disagree. The stakes needed to be raised eventually and I'm glad we're doing it now instead of relegating it to the later chapters. I don't know about you guys but the weakest part of Undertale for me was the severe tonal whiplash that followed as we got Waterfall, an extremely somber and melancholy place, to immediately he thrown into silly joke land again with Hotland and Mettaton only for it to immediately shift tone yet again with an attempt to tug on your heartstrings with an emotional story regarding a character that you haven't even met at that point in the story. All of these areas are fine in isolation but the order that it happens combined with a tearjerker that only works AFTER you've completed True Pacifist is, in my eyes, a genuine blemish. I don't want Toby to go 100% serious until the end, but I think the mixture of comedy relief in chapter 4 is frankly the perfect amount of it for where we are in the story, and hopefully a similar ratio can be maintained going forward.
