I would MUCH rather they do WHAT THEY ARE DOING ALREADY, I MIGHT ADD in retooling parts of the base game that are janky or bad, adding difficulty modes, adding more story content
The shitty multiplayer content and a couple of jobs + crossover characters are NOT necessary
Pixel Remasters lost more not including the Finest Fantasy for GBA content than Tactics loses not having WOTL and THOSE games mostly have shitty superbosses and member berries from other games thrown in, the only one that really loses anything at all is FF4 with the party member swapping and character psychoanalysis lunar dungeons
