>Is this one of those "do it in my free time" kind of things, or do you plan to launch a kickstarter?
I know that I avatarpost as Spamton, but I do not intend to Kickstarter scam anyone. I would mostly do it in my free time, but thankfully I work fast the only real challenge to make is going to be the combat system, the story is something I already got down, and I can draw sprites relatively quickly too.

The targeting would actually work exactly like that. You can swap the characters around and whoever is at the bottom, gets targeted. Certain characters would have certain basic resistances. Some even have different soul colors. When someone gets downed, you'll have to swap before you can continue the fight.

I will check Chrono Trigger out. I was also thinking about using the positioning for dumb stuff like stealing the opponents hat and then throwing it around amongst the teammates.

This is what most people seem to mention when comparing the two that Deltarune's mechanics are more interesting but less personal, and Undertale has a better vibe to it. I wonder if here could be a way to marry the two system in a way that inherits the best aspects of both instead of the worst.

I don't think it is a non-answer at all, you went in great details to explain your point, and I appreciate it. I didn't play Delta Traveler, but I intend to. From what you said, I assume it tries to implement one mechanic for the other. Where do you think it fails?
I do agree that the Deltarune enemies are more animated, and feel more alive during combat, yet most people prefer the older game's enemies. I wonder if there would be a way to combine the best aspects of both.

I think you mentioned two great points, mechanics and visibility. And yes indeed. I do think that certain elements, like TP are a huge improvement over the simple mechanics of Undertale. playing chicken with the bullets and feeling the tension actually giving you TENSION points that you can spend on stuff more than just actions like smiling and throwing sticks at people was a great addition.

These opinions align perfectly with what others told me. I'm glad that people who are outside of my friend circle confirm the same thing. They too enjoy the first-person aspect of the Undertale battle system, and the detailed enemy sprites.

You got me interested. What do you think those niches are? If it is what I think it is, I agree. In Undertale, you are one person, and in Deltarune, you are a team, and if that's what you meant, yes, they represent those aspects well.

I see your point, and I agree to some degree. One thing I disagree with, however, is that the teammates are a distraction. I do think. however that the positioning of the characters is kind of unfortunate.
Thank you for your input, everyone.
