I'm pretty sure Shuji is going to turn out to just be Char. Not directly, he's not Char in a wig acting like a drug addict hobo, but via some sort of newtype bullshit. The show's spent too much time on Char and hasn't developed Shuji at all, it's gotta be something like this.
I like Machu, I like tiny angry creatures, but her development has been incredibly rushed. I still can't believe how little time she spent on Earth. Didn't even fucking touch the ocean.
Nyaan won me over almost immediately with how pitiful she is, and that hasn't changed. I also see that reserved sweetness, but it kinda gets buried in how much life's shit on her. If her arc ends up being "miserable refugee girl gets seduced by evil then dies" I'm going to have to revise my opinion on this show.
And I don't like either of their obsessions with Shuji. Even for a newtype connection it feels really shallow for how much it matters to both of them. Again, rushed development.
