Miorine and Suletta were designed with each other in mind. I do think Suletta's design as a protagonist is really striking considering how most anime designs can be kind of generic protagonist wise. I'm not going to say their designs are necessarily iconic, but if you were to stick their hairstyles on anything you could tell it's them. I do love their contrasting design elements though, I can't really comment much on Gquuuux, but they just feel drastically different. Not in a bad way, just with different design mindsets.
Ex. Miorine Jellyfish, Suletta Tanuki, Suletta shrimp (for identifiable cases)

I thought the character designs were really refreshing for an anime. It felt original but not overly stylized. The mecha designs were also super cool, but I thought each character really stood out in their design and nobody looked the 'same'. I've also grown to appreciate thick eyebrows.

I really appreciated the varied character designs of everyone even if the character themselves weren't an active player in the show.

This crops up a fair amount in Japanese AU fanfics. The yuri authors tend to avoid using the boys, so Eri sometimes takes the role of romantic rival. More than once I've seen authors follow the pattern of Eri pursuing Mio, but it's a farce to motivate Suletta. But actually she really does like Mio, and tragically/nobly stands aside.

Honestly I'd recommend giving it a shot. My Japanese isn't great but the immmersive translate browser/extension is hugely helpful, as it places the machine translated text paragraphs under the orginal, so you can easily look between them. Add in 10ten for looking up individual words and I think even a novice would be able to follow along. It's no substitute for fluency or a human translator but it's come a long way since early google translate.

In a lot of ways it's pretty similar to English fanfiction, for better or worse. A lot of bad or forgettable stuff surrounding occasional gems. There's lots of 3-year timeskip fics, though the few I've read cover a lot of the same ground as the English ones. And like the English authors, I feel like they often seem unsure of how to handle post-series Prospera. Lots of modern highschool AUs set in Japan (everyone having strange names is generally ignored), whereas English fics tend towards college, though working adult life is pretty common too. ABO and futa is unfortunately common among 18+ fics, though always clearly marked. Furry too.

As far as specific trends, AU Miorine being a heavy drinker seems to show up a lot. And I've seen the "Nika mails them a GUND sex toy for testing" plot more than once.

I've used DeepL alongside some other online translation websites to read some of the Japanese Pixiv fanfics. For R18+ works it's hit or miss when it comes to the sex scenes. If there's more niche terminology (like ABO) it tends to be okay. You can search the pixiv novels by the number of 'likes'/hearts it has. That has no real indication of quality of writing though. It's just a good place to start with the more popular fanfics.

I was expecting this to end with one or both girls recognizing that their relationship with Shuji is a shallow obsession. There's been a few lines that point that way, and the theory that that's what the "I don't care anymore" from the ED refers to. But now they're heading into the final battle and with no sign of second thoughts, so it really feels like this might just be a basic poorly written love triangle. I'm half convinced that they intended Shuji's connection with them to come across as real and meaningful, but it was so rushed it came across as deliberately bad.

That would honestly be a surprising outcome for just how shit of an idea it sounds on paper. If the writers are intentionally making shuuji mysterious and shallow in order to make the girls' relationship with him seem superficial, then having him be the sacrificial lamb to get them reconcile would ring incredibly hollow.

This is where the issues with this 'love triangle' come in: the girls' only conflict with one another up until this point has been shuuji, yet if neither of them are meant to have a real, meaningful connection to him, why have it be the basis for their final(?) confrontation. I'm aware of the subtext surrounding the two girls and their characters' and yeah it's mostly good, but the actual, spoken text of show is painting the entire love triangle as being very serious and very real for the two girls. This >>4431866 conversation between xavier and nyann, lalah waiting for her literal dream man to come and save her, and then annqi's final convo with machu are all obvious commentaries on the inevitable tragedy of the trio yet the show has played the entire thing completely straight up until this point.

Gender swapping the char, amuro and lalah dynamic so far has been just as vapid and uninspired as making this show alt uc. I could only imagine how much more narratively satisfying a creepy, fucked up superweapon like the yomagn'tho might've been were it not an obvious excuse to try and do multiverse bullshit with the original series. Oh well, at least they tried with challia and kycillia.

Even now it's still setting up more parallels between Machu and Nyaan. Like everything in the writing is pointing to the Machu <> Nyaan dynamic being the most important plot in this show EXCEPT the dialogue.

I'm bad at Japanese, but I think the first one means something like Suletta was messaging Rajan and they talked about what was then Miorine's upcoming birthday (the moujiki is part of the quotation ending in -tte). Delling heard about it from Rajan so he sent the strawberries as a gift, or something like that.

46: everyday is an adjective so it doesn't work here alone. Could be "every day", or "our everyday life".
47: beloved person sounds a little stiff. I think you could get away with "beloved wife", since the panel emphasizes the ring. This one's more up to taste.

Well obviously not but Machu is proving how little it actually matters since she shares roughly 90% of her character traits with kamille. Suletta is a legitimate diversion from the standard, hot-headed gundam mc we've seen numerous times, so while making her male certainly wouldn't make for as interesting a story (imo), she would still stand out amongst most other protags. Point is, sex doesn't really matter for the mc so the quote can come off as antiquated.

Honestly, the two quotes together seem like they're more focused on how making machu a girl would influence her relationship with shuuji, i.e. giving her the most teenage girl level crush on him, as opposed to how it actually affects her role in the story. I could count on one hand how many conversations would change were she to be a boy instead, it's not that important. You'd probably have to switch shuuji's sex too, and nyaan's....but then now we're just doing a much less interesting version of char/amuro/lalah.

I don’t know if it will end with /u/ in fact I’m 99% sure it won’t but to me I don’t think Nyan loves Shuji but as a part of her family. She seem to love both equally even killing/dying for Machu as evident by this last episode. Machu does love Shuji, but he loves Lalah and is probably long dead with his new type force ghost remaining. So most likely Shuji will go to the newtype afterlife with Lalah.

I stopped trying to make sense of it a while ago and decided to just enjoy the nostalgia bait. It does suck how hard the main trio have gotten sidelined; we had a glimpse of machu and nyaan having actual face to face conflict this ep but it's completely neutered when they have nyaan respond to machu's accusations with "idk how I got here!". Immediately after, machu leaves to go do the multiverse plot that the show actually cares about. It really does seem like the show is allergic to giving the girls any real sense of agency; machu FINALLY decides to do something that doesn't prioritize shuuji when she chooses to protect lalah from nyaan but even that's taken away from her not even 5 minutes later when char tries to do the same thing and she responds with "she's precious to shuuji!". It's both hilarious and incredibly disappointing how the show is very likely going to conclude the the love triangle side plot (yes, side plot) by painting machu/nyaan as the poor, hapless victims of one-sided love.

Spiderverse didn't shove Miles to the side once the other Spiderfolk appeared, he was still the protagonist, whereas Machu became a secondary character in her own show.
