I hate to say it, but now Nintendo is just applying popular genre production techniques on classic Mario themes and that's all this OST mostly is. It's the "Lo-Fi Chill & Read" sound, or the new "pop" sound. One track is just the Mario Theme as a Bossa Nova produced with "Professional Bossa Nova CD Music" expertise.

It's lost that Nintendo iconicness by hiring in outside talent to score it "Professionally". Mario Kart 8 OST was 100% home-grown talent.
