That's correct. 8 removed Wii's Lakitu boosts, reduced hit reactions (hitting walls or especially traffic), removed wheelies, standing turbos, jump drifts, made item boxes respawn instantly so you can no longer tactically steal them, added a bunch of invisible walls to prevent shortcuts, removed items that require skill like the cloud or the tanuki tail, generally made drifting even easier and tracks wider (all those lazy phone tracks), etc.
And just btw. but when people say they love 8 they mean 8 Deluxe which fixed a lot of 8's issues. Wii never got a Deluxe version
Wii pretty much just perfected the formula, gave us fun bikes, a near perfect track selection (new and retro) and the best roster yet). And it didn't force us to play shitty phone tracks

than the straight wide landing strips in mk world? pretty much every other mario kart. mk wii's course selection is still nearly perfect with great new tracks and retro remakes and bikes can do wheelies for extra speed
