Yup. One of the guys that I played with had a gf who REALLY didn't like him staying out until 3 AM with us so she came along and joined the group.

I don't date because I'm unwilling to compromise on things i want out of a partner/my free time. I could settle for something lesser, but why would I? Maybe I'd end up happier, but maybe I wouldn't and I consider myself content/happy enough now.
There's just doesn't seem to be a convincing reason to try to alter my lifestyle for something that has a low likelihood of me ending up happier than I currently am.

the feeling still exists it's just a lot harder to invoke it. Novelty plays a big part so once you've played 500+ games then inevitably you'll notice and expect mechanics, story beats, character arcs.
I thought Portal was awesome when it released and i was thirteen, really wowed me. If it were to release today (and other games hadn't already copied it's mechanics, so pretend the portal stuff is still new) I'd probably just think it's neat but way too short and far too easy. Same goes for all forms of media. You could hand teenage me any remotely competent fantasy novel and i'd at least complete the first book in a series before dropping it, but i rarely dropped stuff at all. Now a book has about 50-100 pages and being merely decent is not worth my time to continue it over doing other stuff.
I literally just dropped and refunded an indie game that came out today called Metro Gravity. If i had to leave a review on it I'd even give it a positive one. What i played was good, but just 'good' isn't good enough anymore, when there's so many other options to turn to.
