This. This is why it's the best one. It knows it only has 3 good ideas: The Spinosaurus, The Raptors, the Pteranodon cage. Spend about 46 minutes total setting up the plot and telling the character stuff, the remaining 46 minutes split 3 ways for all the good ideas to about 15ish minutes of effects shots, boom movie is over. Brevity has value. Loved this movie in the theater. Saw it 4 times as a kid.

It really does take this long. I worked in game dev in a low level position but around professionals(actual top tier devs) and it took them fucking 6 years to produce there first product. I wont say which, but before they even hit the button to let it loose on steam, their big fucking new game was already 1+ year in dev, and still took 4 years all hands on deck.
Both successful and the latter being a smash hit, but these were vets, 10x better than Toby and way more experienced in pipelines and dev timelines. This shit takes fucking forever dude. This is why game devs who know their shit say to NOT fucking work or pursue the industry unless you are ready for hell.
