It's actually kind of funny how you won't find fuck huge property in Japan but on average the houses are somehow more spacious and newer ones use better materials and standards than the average American home for at least twice the price. There's like 3 convenient stores nearby and a train station within a 5 minute walk, yet the rent is cheaper than the shitbox I was living in back in the US. The only drawback is the wage being cheap and the elecricity being more expensive but honestly so far it's been better mentally and physically.

Been here since 2016. Witnessed all the craziness each and every year brought, but 2025 feels hopeless, life almost doesn't feel real anymore. I think it's because all the craziness of the past decade has accumulated into the year we live in and none of it is showing any signs of slowing down or reversing. The fact that politicians aren't even pretending to care is so surreal to me.
