I ask this from a place of total intellectual honesty. I want to believe in God. But the idea of him sending non believers to eternal torment just doesn't sit right with me.

you can not in good conscience create this cruel horrific world and maintain it day after day after day after day for TRILLIONS of years and have the audacity to claim to be a good guy after, a guy so good that he demands nothing less than BLIND eternal worship and devotion
