12 exposes JRPG gameplay by proving you can trivialize it with a bit of yanderedev code

I never played it because I'm not into FF12. The only thing that I'm interested in is the gambit system and non 4 niggas in a row combat.
Does this game push the system to it's limits or is it just there to compensate for lack of control over all party members?
I watched some boss fights and it's literally just waiting for the leader's atb to fill up to choose an action with the rest being auto attack simulator.
Is this really worth playing for the combat?

Gambits are what FFXII called scripts, you could program you party members to react to various situations and use actions in response.
