My schizo theory considering IRL reasons is that they fear MJ gaining more traction/popularity and they look down upon fans as well as the cheesecake material of superhero comics because they are muthafuckin' gay. Take a look at how Insomniac and Reign 2 handled it and yeah they don't like MJ being She-Venom is because her bonding with it and her red hair would be aethetically pleasing to the degree that all the possible ideas artists would try out would lead to a trend and call more attention to OMD and all the shit editorial has said over the years.
Also the secret identity is the most clear reason but Ewing could have clearly had her still be She-Venom by saying Venom also being a She-Venom sometimes would confuse whoever is trying to uncover the identity and call into question there being 2 hosts. So yeah I'm a fucking writing god and I could've kept Ewing's shitty mystery plot going while boosting sales through She-VenoMJ variant covers and pages by Gomez.
They're fucking gay and petty.

Symbiote rules are fucked. Knull could have came in and instilled a bunch of rules to limit them so he could take over more easily but Cates had to be a Reddit loser and add all his tacky ideas without rhyme or reason. Also costume/enveloping is better, that's why it's a "living costume" so I agree.
If any anons want me to dump more female symbiote/She-VenoMJ art I've collected, I could do that.

I dunno some Venom War bullshit had Venom turn gold all over. I have no idea if that's why or it's because it's MJ. For a guy like me I'll retcon it to be the case that it was because of the stuff in Venom War. That's my cope.
For me, MJ as She-Venom would probably have something similar to Julia's costume with the white gloves and boots, maybe some webs, and eyelashes like Anne's form had. Maybe MJ would have her white gloves be longer so that the black space created looks like her debut look with the sleeveless black shirt.
Or maybe MJ would just have Anne's design except with MJ's 80's big fluffy hair made of symbiote tentacles. I dunno.
A lot of great ideas and they decided to skip out on free money because they hate MJ and her getting attention.
