this seems like as good a thread as any based on the replies but can one of the people against please explain something for me? Why is AI art considered theft that steals from artists mouths by being fed examples of their work and then using their art style to create new work based on user prompts? I've seen people say the original artists should be compensated if their work is fed into AI for learning, but yet nobody seems to give a fuck about the mountains of fan art where people draw characters in the original creators same art style? yet nobody seems to give a fuck about doujin artists who do entire parody comics in the exact same art style as the original creators? yet nobody seems to give a fuck if I watch a free video on youtube where some person shows me how to perfectly copy some other artists style? why is it specifically only a problem when AI does it? What exactly am I missing here?
