Part of the issue of the rule of fucking cool with Vader, is that showcasing his atrocities and all the crazy evil shit he did outside of the core movies in things like games, the EU, etc, makes him even harder to "forgive" in the way that he supposedly brought balance to the force.

This isn't even TOUCHING how the sequel trilogy shat all over that "resolution" that lucas had set up as the end of Vader's story. It basically just said none of that crazy shit even mattered since palpatine had some cloning cult holed away somewhere. Vader actually did end up being the chosen one, but only after suffering immense loss and pain and murdering the younglings, I guess? George was always hacky but Vader has to be the baddest badass of all time but then also... I love u dad it's all ok let's go hang out with da ewoks and eat some bbq!

Star wars is basically just good if you take each title in isolation and enjoy it as a fantasy sci-fi western. The second you put it up against any real scrutiny, you're going to lose your fucking mind.
