Before GATE where I lived was MGM mentally Gifted Minors -- no talent. You had to be recommended by the teacher, then given an IQ test by the school psychologist, have a high IQ before you could get in. All the normies who got A could not get into MGM, so their parent's complained and they created GATE, to include those who were not gifted....
