Literally the only solo adventure Sonic went through after Sonic 1 was Sonic 4 Ep 1. That's it. I guess Generations could count too since Sonic's friends don't really do anything but Tails is still present in the story

Sonic's band all had mono eyes too, maybe it's an Oshima thing. Ray, Mighty and the manga characters were illustrated by him shortly after Sonic 1 and feature the mono eye too. The 8-bit characters and Bark have the mono eye too but they were created by other Japanese artists probably trying to replicate Oshima's style of character design. There are exceptions of course like Espio and Honey. Bean too but he's based on the Dynamite Dux. As for the Kukku birds it's kinda hard to see if they're eyes are connected or not

It seems most classic characters that had the mono eye were created in Japan with heavy Oshima influence, which is why Tails is the first to have two separate eyes

Amy, Shadow, Silver and the Metal Sonics are based on Sonic himself so that's why they have the monoeye

I like Classic Sonic because Tails is a classic character

I think most people here just didn't like the 2010s classic pandering which, despite giving us good games like Mania and Generations, ultimately did stagnate the series until Frontiers
