DKB is a pretty good game so far and I can tell anyone crying about it doesn't have a Switch 2 or simply doesn't like 3D platformers but they just can't handle Nintendo raping their mother with how successful the Switch is. Seriously, stop living in a third world shithole and get a job. You're missing out a great game. It has it issues but the core of what the developers were going for make for a fun as fuck game where the moment to moment gameplay isn't the slightest bit unengaging. The game really picks up once you start getting access to DK's full kit.

>Is this the new BOTW/TOTK?
This is something I'm noticing the more I play it is that this game isn't actually like Odyssey outside of how great the movement is. The design philosophy is way closer to Zelda than Mario. Bananas aren't like Moons, they function like Spirit Orbs/Light of Blessings (collectibles are optional and used to upgrade yourself instead of just blocking progression to the next level). In TotK, you would use the fuse mechanics to pick up stuff anything and alter your moveset, here DK literally picks up anything you can see with different terrain materials to do different things. The ability to turf surf being a relatively integral part of DK‘s traversal, reminds me of Shield surfing being one of the big additions to traversal in BotW. The ability to basically climb almost everywhere that isn't slippy. DK being able to also dig up and down, reminded me of the Ascend mechanic from TotK but way more multidirectional. This sort of physics-based interactions and highly vertical exploration is the element that Zelda is doing and not Mario. Even Odyssey's and Bananza's sperate bonus/challenge levels are just based off Shrines. Nintendo combining their handheld and console divisions together is the best thing they have ever done in the history of them being alive.

Yeah and they're fun so far. 3 bananas in each, two impossible to miss and one out of the way. There's other secrets in the areas too. Went back to the first one and you're supposed to climb on hang bars, but you can just jump over all that if you have double jump and know the tricks. Of course doing the level normally isn't hard so you do this to just fuck around.
