well does the monkey own the banana plantation? have a 100 monkeys working for him? who are paid in bananas? and organises the harvest and logistics of growing, transporting and processing the bananas? unless that's the case I don't see how the comparison holds, but now let's talk about the monkeys wearing little hats that tell you that they'll keep your bananas safe in a warehouse, then give you a voucher that represents the banans you have in the warehouse, then you can start using those vouchers instead of trading the bananas themselves, then the funny hat monkeys start lending other monkeys bananas, lending vouchers for 10 bananas then asking 30 back, then let's say there's 200 bananas in the warehouse, but they've loaned out 500 bananas, so you have a lot of imaginary bananas in the economy that only exist on paper, then you have a banana debt based economy where if people suspect that the funny hat monkeys can't pay the debts back it all collapses
