Yes, you can make an orc like pic related, but are you going to say that its a good orc just because its doing something new with the tropes? Of course not, youre not retarded, you know a what a fucking orc should be and what it shouldnt be, the way you know what a dwarf or elf SHOULD be, getting out of "tropes" does not mean it is good by virtue of simply being different. Make something new if your fictional race strays so far from the sterotype of that race that it is no longer a stereotype.
