"The children followed the pointed tail" sounds like something or someone was leading them away (to the Shelter?)
"The pointed tail" might even be Kris, they were already associated with devil imagery as a kid (the horned headband) and devils traditionally have pointed or spade-shaped tails. (But "THEY'LL SEE THE TAIL OF HELL TAKE CRAWL" being part of The Prophecy makes it seem like a more significant recurring idea)
The Man and even Gaster himself certainly don't seem to have any malicious intent toward Kris and the others (Gaster says "YOU ARE ABOUT TO MEET SOMEONE VERY, VERY WONDERFUL" if you name yourself after Kris, Noelle or Susie). Who knows if that really means anything though, with how strange and detached Gaster is.
"Lost where the forest would grow" is also an interesting phrase, since "where the forest would grow" implies that the forest wasn't there yet, but that can't be the case since we already have Noelle's account of the four of them exploring "the forest behind the graveyard."
I don't know what to make of the binoculars in MANCOUNTRY. The grey scene you see just looks like if you zoomed in on a carpet (which would make sense if they're supposed to be in the couch), or maybe just an empty field. It's too abstract to say anything about it at this point.
