In fact, Star Fox as a brand might have had more lasting power if Nintendo had more fully embraced having a series of Zelda-likes, because the mainline Star Fox games were gimmick rail shooters selling themselves on the novelty of being games that were just like the ones you find in arcade cabinets. The mainline Star Fox series's days were numbered when the novelty and appeal of having "an arcade cabinet in your home" began to wear off.
