>You have to deal with modern Windows
How's that any different from having to deal with Snoy's / MS' / Ninty's mandatory updates, terms of services, account creation and updating... etc?
Consoles haven't been "plug n play" in ages. And if you allow automatic updates on your livingroom no-games box and your phone, you might just as well take it like a good goy and let papa Microsoft handle the Wee11 updating and spyware.
>minority of OS
Too scared to name drop Linux?
>No physical option of purchase
Funny, I got a huge shelf full of PC games in physical form. And I can easily back up my games on an external HDD, burn them on DVDs and BDs, et cetera.
Don't pretend like Snoy and Ninty arent' already phasing out physical media, with the no-disc drive version of Piss5 being the first major red flag.
>PC parts got expensive and not going cheaper ever again
They've gotten SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper since the Corona, especially after Nvidia stopped the Cryptomining nonsense years ago.
And if you are "fine" with the "console quality" gaming, you can easily make do with older gen, lower-end hardware.
A huge majority of modern games still would run on a 4c/8t CPUs, 16GB RAM and a 1000-series GTX cards, but if you up that to 6c/12t, 32GB and an RTX card of any sort (pref. 3000-series though), you'll instantly have better, console-demolishing experience.
>Performance actually matter and even a slight dip onto 55 fps is really noticeable
In that case steer away from consoles, as they are still overwhelmingly ~30fps average toyboxes, nowadays also embracing the upscaler and TAA smear to fake higher resolutions while the games still run at 720p.
At least on PC, you can tweak the options and even mod the games to both run better AND look nicer.
>good enough laptop is where is at
Now you're just shilling for something you don't even understand.
Desktop = the smartest, easiest and cheapest option, with far superior upgrade options.
Also, good AA and indie games exist.
