Yes absolutely. I can crank every modern AAA game to max settings and get 150+ FPS. The difference between 60 FPS and 100+ is night and day. I can use whatever controller I like, I can pirate games, run emulators and KB+M is the defacto FPS control setup. There's a reason Xbox and Sony consoles are dying.

PCs can be upgraded for less than or equal to the cost of a new console, and in general most modern games you just have to buy once and they'll just keep working, rather than having to buy an upgraded version for a new system. When I used Linux as my daily driver I had mostly reliable backwards compatibility with PC games going all the way back to the 1980s. Some things just require a little more knowhow than they do on console, but again for newer games they're generally pretty hassle-free.

The big problem I have with PC gaming these days is that physical copies of games are almost nonexistent, and even if you get one from a collector's edition or something it's usually just a program that downloads the game from the Internet. That crap has always bothered me, because if a game ever gets taken offline or its distribution platform gets shut down it just goes poof. If you have any value for game preservation whatsoever, making your own backups is an absolute must.

When one plays a game all the want is for it to work and play well.
Until the 7th, a lot of times a PC was a hassle due to all kinds of compatability issues, graphic driver problems, and requirements for minimum specs doubling every 14 months, where a console gave you the top graphics it's generation offered at the tiime for a fraction of the price.
But somewhere along the way things inverted. Suddenly building a PC wasn't some super complex thing, it was as simple as following lego instructions.
Compatability between parts became far less of an issue. The price of a digital download was $5 or sometimes free. A decent mid range graphics card could last you for a decade on a 1080 tv. Tvs could be monitors now.
Meanwhile consoles became more expensive, stopped selling hard copy working games, required massive downloads and hard-drive space for games, and became all the hassles of a PC but with none of the perks.

So now you may as well play PC games. You may have some problems but so will consoles and atleast a PC will allow you to fix it yourself and not try and sell you a PC 2 in 4 years.

Not really. The 2010s were a good time to be on PC vs console where it was objectively better in most ways but for at least half a decade now the upsides of PC are rapidly diminishing. It depends on how much you care about performance and how much you are willing to spend on your hobby. It also depends on how much you value having a PC outside of gaming. Of course there are also a lot of PC exclusive games and mods, or early access games that don't come to consoles until years later.
There's also the matter of keyboard+mouse vs controller. PC allows either in most cases, but consoles are mostly limited to controller only. Though they have gotten better about supporting keyboard+mouse if the game developers allow it.

Starting from scratch with a new PC is rather costly, but the case, PSU, fans, drives, peripherals, etc. can be carried over when you upgrade. Plus you can see the old hardware on ebay to recoup some of the cost.

Modern consoles run the modern UE5 AAA slop at ~30fps and upscaled 800p, which makes everything look smudgy, noisy and just awful.

Just up the RAM to 32GB, and you're golden for the next 5 years. It's also the cheapest upgrade.

I use Counter-strike as a marker for how games should perform technologically. I'm not convinced more is necessary. 140fps is the sweet spot for competitive games and games don't appear to really be utilizing 4k especially when people upscale so damn much now. No all that shit still runs. Worst thing you might have to do is run a custom launcher on stuff like Deus ex because the renderer doesn't work. Thief needs nothing though. I've been on PC longer than some /v/irgins have been alive, and I've stuck with 1200p 60fps (16:10 aspect ratio) since 2009. It's just so damn good for content creation, media consumption, and even gaming, as the few games that have only 4:3 or 16:9 resolutions both scale nicely on the screen.

Depends on the game. Some are still very easy to run, some were such proprietary hack jobs even at the time that even Windows XP had trouble with them.

But these days, you can just check the PC Gaming Wiki site and follow their instructions. They will list any and all issues and the best patches / mods to fix them.

The average rule of thumb is:

Anything DX9.0c and up (Source engine games, Unreal 2.5 and up) should still run just fine.

DX11 is 2010s and Win7 era stuff, and should have no trouble.

It's the older D3D and OpenGL stuff that may break on modern WINDOWS; the Linux operating system unironically handles ye olde PC gayms better at this point.

And it's getting better thanks to Valve focusing so much on their Linux compatibility tech, Proton ("Steam Play").

I've had my current PC since 2017, the only upgrade since then is a new SSD (my old one from 2016 died last week) and I upgraded from a 1080 to a 3070 two years ago. Delidded and liquid metal'd my 8700k and gave it a mild OC while keeping better temps. I don't plan on upgrading for at least another couple years. The last console I bought was a PS4 and it's just a glorified streaming machine now and I have 0 need to get another console.

It's the same tale. PCs have a higher upfront cost, but over a decade with incremental updates, it's always a better value proposition over a console. Especially when you consider a desktop PC is more flexible in what you can do with it.

I have 863 games on steam, where the fuck am I going to put them? Cloud storage is superior and convenient. The consoles I own are the NES, SNES, Genesis, gameboy, gameboy pocket, gameboy color, n64, ps1, gba, GameCube, ps2, DS, Wii, PS3, PSP, Vita, 3DS, PS4, and Switch. I don't use a single one any more. They just sit in my closet and rot. Even if I want to play a game on them it's easier to just emulate it. Hell, I can sync my joycons to my PC with Bluetooth and use them as motion controllers. And a lot of my physical media is deprecated, like my pokemon blue cartridge can't hold save data anymore because the battery is dead. And a lot of these consoles, the whole appeal was not owning games, but being able to simply burn a CD on your computer and play it in them. This is why the PS2 was so popular.

The first thing you always do is re install windows. And then you start deducing if it's hardware. Could be GPU. Could be Ram. Could be PSU. Could be Motherboard.
Always assume software first.

I used to have a similar problem since my bed generates tons of static energy. So if I powered up the PC immediately after getting out of bed the RAM and SSD would randomly disconnect with no evidence of software or hardware issues. I had a problem after I installed a hard plastic mat underneigh my desk. My monitor, keyboard, and mouse would constantly reset at what seemed random times. And then I started to notice a pattern where it only happened when i was moving. Then when I touched a certain part of my desk, and then only when I was moving my feet and then touching my desk.
One of the things I did was buy an expensive DisplayPort cable. Which helped a lot. Then I got chokes for my keyboard and mouse cables. And then I changed chairs which I guess has fixed the problem. I haven't thought about it in a long time.

Things to note in your decision. You don't need every game, 25-35 works swell or less too, just have fun bro. Controller and keyboard/mouse work on both with an emulator. I'd get the one you make friends easier on, and what you need for portability options. PC has more live streaming options. Get the one that has more games you need. Both are cheap but on a deep budget I'd get console to buy more games and shit. Blu Ray player included with PS. On PC you have to buy a good chair too, and bed honestly because it's like sitting at an office all day otherwise. Newer games and systems of both styles alike have better mod teams. If you like to be a jackass and hate people with your guild I'd recommend PS4. If you like to have fun just with the game, newer system because less cheating because mods as well. I incel like to buy the one that has the most games and controller or keyboard I like honestly. I like PlayStations UI though something to note. Easy party chat and they came to game because that's all it fucking does. Durability doesn't matter son get the good controller for you. Also I should have said I meant the PS5 version of Demon's Souls(superior version). And the only other PS3 game on there was The Witch and the Hundred Knight and there as well I meant the PS4 version since that's the better version too. Not too mention that even on fucking PS3 that game had major crash issues. I remember quitting and saving in fear almost every 5 minutes in the later game because I was afraid of losing my progress.

Emulation in general is mostly a joke past the PS2 gen but I choose not to mention games like Bloodborne because you'd have copers crawling out the woodworks the moment I'd mention a game that is "emulatable".
