I live in the states and specifically in states with restrictive gun laws. My state and most of its neighbors have been bitch slapped in court over their laws being unconstitutional. It'd be great to live in a world without guns, but that's jut not reality, and with the advent of 3d printing it's only going to get more true.
I used to be largely apathetic about guns, and then some tweaker tried to knife me after I told him I didn't have any cigs, and a few weeks later another one broke into my house and I wound up braining him with a baseball bat. I got my CC and I've carried every day ever since.

See above. Great in theory. How are you going to stop people getting illegal stuff? The entire western world has been fighting the 'war against drugs' for decades and it's a complete failure. Guns can literally be made from blocks of aluminum by a cheap machine these days. The only reason this isn't more widespread is because it's easier for retards to steal them from other drooling retards, but that's changing more and more every year. We're already at the state where a basic machine can mill out gun parts from aluminum. In a decade that kind of equipment will be accessible to any mildly motivated gang banger with more than an October temperature IQ.
Just look at all the clips of thugs getting into street shootouts with their modified glocks. A 'glock switch' is nothing more than a 3d printed part. You can't hit shit with an auto pistol, and even having one in your possession without a truly disgusting amount of paperwork is good for a decade in the can, but that hasn't stopped 2/3 of the inner city thugs acquiring their penis extension mags and switches. Doesn't matter that you can't hit shit (seriously, watch this clip and guy shooting clouds), but clearly legality has nothing to do with access.
>b-but Australia
The biker gangs have been making full auto zip guns for 30 years in Australia. Zip guns are literally easier to make than semi-autos.
