It's because the dev compromised the integrity of the game with assets. Lots of players don't recognize it as an asset flip so it doesn't bother them, but once you see it, it's hard to appreciate the game. I used to love playing those free faux-"psx" style horror games on itch.io until i realized 90% of them used assets for everything. They were using assets for extremely primitive graphics you could learn to make in blender after like 2 hours of learning.

Because you didn't market properly.
