I agree with you. One of my gripes with Gen 8–9 character design is that many of them seem created to cater to specific fetishes rather than being built around memorable designs. Take Melony, for example, her only value is being fat.

One of the problems with fetish-bait designs is that they don’t last. They get forgotten quickly once a new one appears. Just look at how the entire SwSh male cast was ultramogged by Rika, and how the fujobait from Scarlet & Violet is already being forgotten thanks to the new purple Avery.
