The dead internet theory is becoming real (or more real, anyway). The internet has become a battleground of fake accounts/posts and artificially pumped up ones spreading propaganda or shilling. AI is the final nail in the coffin, you don't even need to put effort into faking posts anymore. The internet is drowning in fake shit, but people still act like the number of replies or likes something gets reflects public opinion. If you have enough money and time, you can paint the discourse more effectively than market manipulators paint stock charts. Create entirely artificial conversations where your side wins, make the biggest "influencers" repeat your views, etc. This is already happening.
Don't know the solution to it all, but good to be aware of it.
