> Refusal of the Call: The hero’s initial hesitation, driven by fear or doubt.
Battle shonens dont really do that, am i right?
A shonen mc is much more motivated than a normal hero?
I have a feeling most storys, dont know why they do this troop. Its conflict, but how does it work for characterization?
Why would a hero refuse an adventure?
A young hero should be overconfident and not hesitant, or not?
In most cases, this hesitation looks forced, anyway. Do you want to go on a dangerous adventure. No. Pls. Okay, ill do it...
I try to find a strong motivation for my mc, thats not too cheesy. For example, i want to save my village(that one is cheesy). Its a personal, strong motivation. But then, when you follow the heroes journey structure, he has to be like, naaaah, its too dangerous, i dont want to save the village. Something minor happens. Yeah, okey fine, i will do it.
Do you guys understand what i mean? It lets you mc look like an asshole, no?
