Whether or not the game library was good is a difficult question to answer. It didn't have a lot of great exclusives and even shit that started as exclusives eventually got ported to consoles thus negating the need for the psp version. But its backwards compatibility even without modding gives it so much additional content I'm not sure how many exclusives it really needed to justify its existence. Even if you only used it as a portable PS1 that's a fucking amazing inventory of available games. Not to mention the extensive numbers of compilations released for it.
Mine currently has a Genesis collection, one of the Capcom collections, Chrono Trigger, Rayman 1, Bonk's adventure , P3P and Pixeljunk Monsters on the memory card, and I have hard copies of Dracula X, Metal Gear Acid and Portable Ops and Crisis Core. That's SNES, Genesis, Turbografx, PS1, various arcade games and some original stuff, and that's without any custom firmware, just what I could get legit off PSN, usually for fairly cheap. I kinda wish it had more original games but honestly it's a minor consideration. That thing was retro paradise. I actually like playing older games on it even if I have console version because they just look right. I don't know if it's the small screen or a resolution thing but they look like they looked on CRT without the blurriness or pixelation of the newer ports.
The psp was a great machine, I just wish they would let me download stuff off psn and transfer it to the psp with my PS4 like the PS3 did.
