I think it is not that far off. Some days when I'm at the pier just sitting around fishing I'll people watch and yes some days it feels like easily more than half of the people I see (all ages) are overweight or obese.
Why do people let themselves go like that? Some of them are so fat they become a sphere. How could someone look at that and not see a major problem? I'm 37 and not overweight. I see some kids that are like 14 and already obese.
