The piping of the reactor plant, which is a grade of stainless steel, would rust. This would not only make it structurally unsound, it would interfere with coolant flow and increase shutdown radiation levels from the rust particles becoming activated by fission.

the USSR didn't care about people. They were more concerned with propaganda. They needed the "best" of anything first. And if they weren't first, they needed it even faster. Corners were cut in the name of speed. And by corners, I mean entire emergency cooling system for the reactor core. Or radiation shielding. Crews would rotate in and out of the engine room. Don't remember which class of boat that was, but they wanted a boat that was fast, so they made it lighter by not having radiation shielding.

compactness is really an issue for CQB. A folding stock for storage will be fine. On my submarine we had M16s with a 20 inch barrel. The rifle would be used topside where the extra velocity, sight radius (if using iron sights) were more important than being compact. If you are using something below decks; 1. you already fucked up letting them onboard, 2. a bull pup would be great, but so would a shot gun. I still would not use the RFB, the thought of that muzzle blast so close to my face would not be pleasant. would recommend a silencer for that or something is 5.56 because the close quarters.
