I might be heavily biased here but after perusing a lot of the workshop maps for MvM I find most of the top rated ones look like they have boring layouts. They're carried entirely on their visuals, with most of said visuals not even fitting the aesthetics. If you search the MvM tag you need to go to page 2 or 3 before you get the actual good shit and maps that have creative layouts or designs other than "here's my custom robot/tank my friend modeled" or "wow isn't this theme wacky and original"
