There really is no excuse for how badly these two are written in the comic. Seriously, there isn't.

I like the pre-boot Archie comics for what they were. Yea the dark ages sucked but it was fun reading through the comic as it started out as light and mostly comedy focused and slowly turned into it's own dramatic universe, impressive or otherwise.
Outside of Sonic X and Sonic Boom I don't really like any of the shows. I like the Sonic 2 and 3 movies but hate the humans for the most part.
But even with all of this said I really don't know why someone would be here if they weren't mainly a gamefag. To each their own for their favorite continuity but this is undeniably and centrally a video game franchise and the fact that there are people who don't understand this or simply don't care and want to actively change the characters therein to fit their part of the franchise more is autistic and retarded unfortunately this problem has plagued this fanbase for over 2 decades now.

The IDW comic is genuinely bad. Not "decent" or "meh" but actually bad because of how many writing errors and mistakes happen throughout it and because the comic forgets it's own plot several times. There are certain points where it almost feels schizophrenic reading through because characters will have a whiplash in personalities when a different writer takes over from the previous saga. There are a few good tidbits like the beginning and end of the Metal Virus arc and there's one or two issues where it takes a more slice of life approach and it's kind of comfy but overall most of the issues in it at this point is meandering, filler content or just outright badly written. Usually some combination of the 3.
Some of the character designs of the OCs are good but even their personality within the comic is lukewarm, at best because of how badly they're handle within the comic.

It's not the worst thing ever or even in the franchise but it's definitely not good and idk how you could even call it decent without giving it an extreme bias towards it by not expecting at least competent writing. The artwork is nice though, most of the times.
